It’s that time of the year again. The weather is changing and the desire of NBA basketball is through the roof. After a great entertaining season last year, many fans have great expectations for this upcoming NBA journey. Here are a few things we all should be looking forward to this season:
1. Can the Miami Heat three-peat?
When Lebron James first arrived to Miami, he made a bold statement, saying that he will win eight titles. Kind of a stretch, but at this point in his career, its impossible to go against the King himself. Two championships in three years with Miami is a great start if he is trying to get eight titles. Lebron James and the Miami Heat are clearly dominating the league. However, there are a couple teams who are trying to dethrone the champs. San Antonio, Indiana, Chicago, Oklahoma City, Houston, New York and the Brooklyn Nets all built their teams for the sole purposes of beating the Miami Heat.
2. Health.
Last season, Many superstars suffered season ending injuries. Kobe Bryant ruptured his Achilles, Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo both tore their ACLs, Russell Westbrook tore his MCL and Kevin Love broke his hand and had season ending knee surgery. There were more players who were forced to end their season early, but the players named above are the most popular. These players are capable of changing the face of a franchise for the better. When these players went down, fans across the world were robbed from watching their talents on a nightly basis. Now that they all are healthy (or just about), this season should be another very entertaining, yet impressive one.
3. Emerging Superstars
Many young players who are very early into their careers are on the verge of superstardom. Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, sharp-shooting Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Chandler Parsons and Harrison Barnes are all very exciting to watch and this year they all should make the leap to superstars.
This season might be the most anticipated since forever. Is it the end of the Miami powerhouse? Will the Lakers and Celtics, the two most storied franchises, tank? I can’t wait to find out.
